Get a jump start on reading and pronunciation with LearnEnglish Kids: Phonics Stories! This interactive storybook app offers eight stories with each story focusing on a different set of sounds.
This app is designed to develop the reading confidence of young learners (6-8 year-olds).

PHONICS-FOCUSED STORIES
Eight stories follow space spies Sam and Pam as they visit Earth and start to learn English. Every story is specially written to highlight a new set of English sounds.
Each set of phonics is repeated throughout the story, encouraging children to understand the relationship between sounds and letters.

UK PHONICS PROGRAMME LETTERS AND SOUNDS
LearnEnglish Kids: Phonics Stories follows the UK phonics programme Letters and Sounds. Phonics sounds are grouped together logically with the simplest sounds covered first. Complexity is developed naturally with phonics sets getting slightly more difficult with each story.

LEARN NEW WORDS AND HAVE FUN
The app also has a strong emphasis on building vocabulary. Fun interactive flaps help children develop their reading comprehension by revealing new parts of the story. Each story also comes with its own game and set of picture cards to further support your child as they learn new words. There is also a surprise colouring activity hidden in every story for your child to discover.

READ ALOUD TOGETHER AND ALONE
As the audio track plays, words light up to support listening and reading. By encouraging your child to read along with the audio you can build their reading confidence further. When they feel ready to read independently, turn off narration and allow them to read out loud on their own.

PARENTS GUIDE
A detailed parents’ guide goes through the sounds covered in the stories and gives tips on how parents can use the app to help their child improve their reading confidence. The parents’ guide is available in English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Thai.
